Anchors 13, Sails 6
The Anchors started the scoring with Riley Pruey connecting with Jaxon Lewis for the first quarter touchdown. The Sails bounced back when Cooper Hambor found an open Bryson Janke for the score to tie the game before the half at 6-6. Both defenses played shut out football in the third quarter. Liam Vale and Mitch McGuire deflected passes for the Sails while Izayah Vilagi locked down his opponents as well. The Anchors’ offense broke through in the fourth quarter when Riley hit Calvin Gray for the short pass and Calvin ran in for the score. Riley and Gabriel McKinney converted for the additional point for the 13-6 lead. With the win, the Anchors move to the championship game next weekend.
Beacons 19, Lighthouses 18
This game came down to the wire. The Beacons’ Declan Bright intercepted a first-quarter pass to gain early possession of the ball. Declan threw the first score to Mathew Wank for the 6-0 lead. The Lighthouses responded with a score of their own when Brody Smith found Alexander Santana in the endzone to tie the game at 6 apiece. Just before the half, Declan again connected with Mathew for the 12-6 lead. The Beacons’ defense locked down the Lighthouses in the first half, led by Gannon Michalski, Daniel Braun, and Kavryn Koran. The Lighthouses’ offense made the first noise in the second half with Brody finding Wilkin Santana for the score to even the game. With the Beacons in possession, Declan once again hit Mathew in the flat and Mathew did the rest by running in for the leading score. Declan connected with Gannon for the conversion point. The Lighthouses would not give up as Brody again found Wilkin for another score to cut their deficit to one before time expired. The Beacons advance to the championship game next weekend.
Grades 4-6
Captains 34, Admirals 0
The Captain offense erupted in the first half with Eric McCulley finding open receivers for touchdowns, starting with Kameron Leftwich and Cale Milliman. The Captain defense held strong and again Eric found Cale for the big lead before the half. Kameron intercepted a pass in the second half and returned it for the score. Eric and Kameron connected for a final time late in the third quarter. Other Captains players helped with converting the point after touchdowns, including Brooke Pruey and Chloe Pruey. Isaac Gray led the defensive efforts and the shutout. Despite not scoring, the Admirals moved the ball throughout the contest. Bryce Gillispie connected with his receivers in the open field, including Ben Fazekas, Peyton Wilson, Peyton Kallay, Domanick Fletcher, Aiden Coulter, and Kacen Koran. With the win, the Captains move to the championship game next weekend.
Mariners 26, Navigators 18
The Mariners stormed out to a big lead in the first half with an interception return for a score by Samuel Jablonski and a touchdown pass to Mitch Bukovac. Mitch intercepted a Navigator pass and returned that for the score and the 19-point lead. Connor Englebrecht intercepted another pass before the half. The Navigators’ offense regrouped and Liam Greene hit Matteo Alvarez for the score before the half. After halftime, Liam found Evan Murphy for the score and cut the Mariners’ lead to 19-13. Liam then connected with Matteo again to get within 1 point of the Mariners. The Mariners responded with another score to increase their lead when Connor intercepted another pass, this time for a score. Connor then connected with Cole Clair for the conversion. The Navigators’ defense played very well in the second half, led by Ben Allen, Julia Allen, Vinny Phelps, Vinnie Catri, and Channing Delgado. The Mariners’ defense played great in their own right, led by Tyson Sherwood and Andrew Butterfield. With the win, the Mariners advance to the championship game.
