Division A: Grades 1-3
Anchors 25, Sails 6
The Anchors and Sails were tied at halftime 6-6. The Anchors' Deonnie Sentz scrambled for a score versus a Sail blitz. The Sails responded with Landon Carroll's touchdown pass to Cooper Hambor. The Anchors separated in the second half with Peyton Wilson's and Deonnie's interception returns for scores. Deonnie also passed to Peyton for another score to earn the victory in a second half scoring spree. The Anchor defense relied on consistent tackling and coverage by Channing Delgado and Kyle Bates. The Sails' Kacen Koran, Teagan Joles, and Camden Metcalf played a strong first half on defense.
Lighthouses 18, Beacons 12
The Lighthouses and Beacons battled to the end in this even match up. The Lighthouses scored first on Bryce Gillispie's touchdown pass to Isaac Gray. Isaac then returned an interception for another score to create a 12 point lead. But the Beacons refused to quit. Ben Fazekas beat a Lighthouse blitz to scramble for a score and also passed for another score to Mathew Wank to tie the game at 12 in the fourth quarter. Not until the very end did Bryce and Isaac connect for the game-winning score. The Beacon defense held tough in the second half with great effort from Declan Bright and Katharina Niehaus. Brayden McCarthy, Wesley Henderson, and Mitch McGuire helped end the Beacons' comeback attempt with stout defensive performances.
Division B: Grades 4-6
Navigators 44, Admirals 6
The Navigators were determined to get back into the win column this week after two close losses the previous two games. They did just that. The scoring began with Peyton Kallay's pass to Tyson Sherwood. Greg Mechenbier then intercepted an Admiral pass for another score. Greg then threw for another score to Mitch Bukovac. Mitch also intercepted an Admiral pass for a score. The Admirals refused to quit and Ben Allen intercepted a Navigator pass. Zackary Haynes then threw a touchdown pass to Ben that got the Admirals on the scoreboard. The Navigators did not let up, however. Mitch intercepted another two Admiral passes and Greg passed for scores to Mitch and Tyson. The Admirals look to end the regular season in the win column versus the Beacons next weekend.
Captains 29, Mariners 25
The Captains built a big lead over the Mariners in this one-sided first half. At halftime, the Captains held a 21-0 lead with scores by Emily Mechenbier to Donovan Fogle and Liam Greene to Isaac Maldonado. Liam and Emily also passed to Donovan and Isaac for mores later in the contest. The Mariners surged in the second half for 25 points to nearly escape with the comeback win. The Mariners scoring spree started with Aidan Coulter's touchdown pass to Nick Mechenbier. A Nathan Jarvis interception then set up another quick Aidan to Nick score to cut their deficit in half. Two more scores from Aidan to Nick nearly allowed the Mariners to surpass the large Captain lead. However, the Captain lead had one final stop on stingy defense from Emily, Isaac, Donovan, Liam, and Govani Fogle. The Mariners' second-half surge was also permitted from strong defense by Cale Milliman and Bram Miles-Sanchez.
