Anchors 6, Beacons 6
This matchup looked like a good one and it certainly did not disappoint. Jaxon Lewis got the Anchors a 6-point lead when he intercepted the Beacons’ pass and returned for the score. The Beacons responded with Declan Bright finding Mathew Wank for the touchdown to even the score. Both team’s defenses took over from there. Calvin Gray intercepted a Beacon pass in the second half but the Beacon’s defense held tight. The Anchors’ Gabriel McKinney, Riley Pruey, and Izayah Vilagi played outstanding coverage in the second half. The Beacons’ Gannon Michalski, Daniel Braun, and Kavryn Koran played strong defense of their own. The Anchors and Beacons tied 6-6 and both look forward to finishing the regular season on a strong note before the playoffs begin.
Sails 19, Lighthouses 12
The Sails got off to a fast start when Cooper Hambor threw a score to Bryson Janke. The Lighthouses’ Brody Smith connected with Wilkin Santana for the touchdown to even the score before halftime. Cooper threw another score to Bryson to take the lead in the third quarter. Brody and Wilkin connected again to tie the lead later in the third quarter. The Sails’ Mitch McGuire threw a score to Bryson for his third touchdown reception of the night. Mitch then converted the extra point to Cooper to finish out the scoring. Teagan Joles, Alexander Santana, and Brayden McCarthy played great defense for the Lighthouses. Liam Vale and Landon Rexrode stepped up for the Sails in their Tuesday night victory under the lights.
Grades 4-6
Captains 20, Admirals 0
The Captains kicked off the scoring with Eric McCulley’s interception return for a touchdown in the first quarter. Eric soon after intercepted another pass to get the Captains in strong field position. Eric threw for a long score to Cale Milliman to increase their lead. Eric then found Kameron Leftwich in the endzone for the two-point conversion and 14-0 advantage. The Admirals moved the ball with Bryce Gillispie quarterbacking and throwing to Ben Fazekas, Peyton Kallay, and Peyton Wilson. However, the Captains’ defense held tight in the red zone led by Isaac Gray, Brooke Pruey, and Chloe Pruey. The Captains’ offense moved the ball one final time in the second half when Eric threw to Kameron for the long score. The Admirals’ Ben Fazekas intercepted a Captain pass late in the game but time expired before they could score. The Admirals look to improve in the regular season finale next week and the Captains look to continue their momentum.
Mariners 27, Navigators 14
The Mariners stormed out to a big lead in the first quarter with two interception returns for scores from Mitch Bukovac. Zackary Haynes added the conversion pass to Mitch. The Navigators’ defense settled in the second half with help from Julia Allen, Vinny Phelps, Vinnie Catri, and Matteo Alvarez. The Mariners defense played strong in the first half with outstanding performances from Samuel Jablonski, Andrew Butterfield, and Cole Clair. The Mariners scored again when Connor Englebrecht connected with Tyson Sherwood for a long score. Mitch added one more interception return for a score to finish out the scoring for the Mariners. The Navigators made a surge in the fourth quarter when Liam Greene found Evan Murphy for the score and Liam hit Ben Allen for the touchdown and conversion. The comeback bid fell just short as the Mariners’ lead held firm. The Navigators’ defense improved in the fourth quarter with help in coverage from Channing Delgado.
