Division A: Grades 1-3
Anchors 12, Beacons 12
The Anchors scored in the first half on Deonnie Sentz's touchdown pass to Peyton Wilson. However, the Beacon defense locked in after that with Ben Fazekas, Dominic Regal, Declan Bright, Katharina Niehaus, Mathew Wank, and Kyle Bates. The Beacons tied the game up at 6-6 on Declan's touchdown pass to Ben. The Anchors retook the lead on another set of Deonnie to Peyton touchdown passes. The Beacons were able to score again when Ben threw for a score to Dominic. Both teams played hard and resulted in an overtime period. However, both team's defenses showed up strong and held each other scoreless in overtime to tie the game.
Lighthouses 13, Sails 12
The Lighthouses and Sails showed off their defensive abilities in this game that came down to the wire. Bryce Gillispie brought his best efforts with three interceptions, returning one for a score. Bryce also passed for a score on a connection with Isaac Gray. The Sails scored on Camden Metcalf's pass to Landon Carroll. Landon later scrambled for a score to tie the game at12-12 late in the fourth quarter. On the conversion attempt, Isaac came up big with an interception and returned it all the way for the game-winning point. Other players who stepped up defensively include the Lighthouses Wesley Henderson and Brayden McCarthy. For the Sails, Cooper Hambor and Teagan Joles each covered their receive all game long.
Division B: Grades 4-6
Mariners 19, Navigators 16
The Mariners scored the first three touchdowns of the game to build a 19-0 lead at halftime. Aidan Coulter threw for a score to Nick Mechenbier in the first quarter. Nick then returned two interceptions for touchdowns to finish the half with a big lead. However, the Navigators refused to give up. Late in the fourth quarter, Greg Mechenbier intercepted a return to begin the Navigators' rally. Greg then converted for the conversion with Mitch Bukovac. Tyson Sherwood came up with a big interception to set up their offensive drive. Greg passed to Mitch and converted with Tyson to reduce the Mariner lead to 3 points with under one minute left in the game. Time was not on their side, but their efforts displayed the Navigators' abilities. The Mariners hung on to their lead in the end to win the game. The Mariners' Cale Milliman and Nathan Jarvis showed their impressive defensive skills while the Navigators' Andrew Butterfield and Peyton Kallay hustled all game as well.
Captains 46, Admirals 0
The Captains scored early and often and did not let up. Emily Mechenbier threw five touchdown passes. Donovan Fogle and Liam Greene caught two touchdown each. Emily and Liam each returned an interception for a score. Govani Fogle came up with a big interception that set up one of Emily's touchdown passes on the next play. Although the scoreboard did not show it, the Admirals played hard on both sides of the ball. Cole Clair and Vinny Phelps each had big tackles while Ben Allen intercepted a Captain pass. Zackary Haynes threw the ball well but could not get into the endzone. The Admirals look to rebound this week while the Captains look to continue their momentum.
