The Anchors and the Sails were entrenched in a defensive battle through much of the first half. The stalemate ended when the Sails’ Mitch McGuire executed a lightning blitz resulting in a narrow escape and rushing touchdown by Camden Metcalf. The Sails scored on a touchdown pass from Liam Vale to Jaxon Lewis. The 2nd Anchor score was the result of a Max Hughes pass to Camden Metcalf. Alex Santana and Blake Toivonen lead the defensive effort for the Anchors. The Salis defense was galvanized by the pass coverage of Cooper Gardner.
Beacons (White) 20
Lighthouses (Black) 8
Calvin Gray had a hot arm for the Beacons, finding Alex Bustos twice in the endzone for the scores in the first half of play. Andre Pearson filled out the rest of the Beacons points with a two-point conversion and a touchdown of his own in the third. The Lighthouses were all defense this week with Wesley Henderson preventing a touchdown with a diving flag pull late in the second quarter and adding a two point-conversion in the fourth. The Lighthouse’s Carlos Rodriguez had a pick six in the fourth to get his team on the scoreboard.

Navigators (Yellow) 32
Mariners (Black) 28
This high-scoring affair started off with a series of interceptions by the Navigators that were returned for touchdowns. The sticky-handed Navigator defenders were Eric McCulley, Cale Milliman, and Chaning Mithchell. The Navigators continued their attack with offensive drives utilizing Connor Englebrecht, Mathew Wank, Cole Clair, and Zackary Haynes. The Mariners regrouped from the Navigators’ initial onslaught with a comeback that brought them back within 4 points 2 times. Vinny Phelps and Brody Smith utilized the speed of Wilkin Santana with pass completions that resulted in runs to the endzone. Issac Gray’s receptions kept the Mariners’ hopes alive and Max Valencia had key blocks and catches to help fuel the Mariner’s offensive machine.

Defense was on display this week for both teams with strong flag pulls and great work in the secondary. Ben Fazekas found Peyton Kalllay in the endzone late in the first half of play. It wasn’t until the fourth quarter when Cooper Hambor tossed two touchdowns to Kyle Pena and Micah Loggins respectively.
